Tsholotsho North legislator Libion Sibanda has made an appeal for material resources to construct four schools in his constituency.
Sibanda said learners in his constituency were forced to walk long distances to access the few available public schools.
He said this was the reason why many learners were forced to drop out of school in frustration.
“As a constituency we have been trying to construct schools and the local community and diaspora have been leading various fundraising efforts but we are having some shortages of materials thus we are appealing to well-wishers,” Sibanda said.
“We are constructing two primaries schools, which are Madziba and Mabhengula.
“The other two secondary schools are Mtshayeli and Mbiriya as this will improve our education sector as most children will attain their education.”
Sibanda said the poor passrates in his constituency can partly be attributed to learners failing to concentrate in class after walking long distances to school.
