Murada calls for artistic liberty in new video

Murada, a former Gwevedzi Band leader, defied the odds as he stood out to impress the appreciative crowd through songs such as as Unondidzimaidza, Bvuma Tiyemerane, Ndiringe and Ndiyamure.

AFRO-FUSION music creative Nyasha Murada has augmented his quest for artistic liberty through the launch of a  music motion picture Free Me video at Ela The Garden in Newlands recently.

Murada, a former Gwevedzi Band leader, defied the odds as he stood out to impress the appreciative crowd through songs such as as Unondidzimaidza, Bvuma Tiyemerane, Ndiringe and Ndiyamure.

He pinnacled  the September 26 night with the official screening of the mind-blowing Free Me which wowed the audience.

Murada’s video traces life in the high-density suburbs to highly exclusive environments as one battles out to set their mind from constant worry, unfathomable thinking and societal dislodgement. He has an innate skill of selecting words that touch on people’s experiences with wisdom as reflected in his love and family-themed songs. Above all,  the Free Me video showed a lot of his inventive ingenious in communicating the hard-to-say in a humorous way.

“Free Me has recently gone live on social media and is still building up  crowds  and I am sure that very soon it will help people to entertain themselves as they talk about various issues about their lives. Free Me is a song that one can sing along to set themselves free from thinking about the restricting conditions they might wish to come out of.

“I have been a songwriter and lead singer for the group Gwevedzi for some years before going solo. I have worked on songs like Unondidzimaidza, Bvuma Tiyemerane, Ndiringe and Ndiyamure. I found it best fitting to shoot pictures that complement that visibility exertions of the messages in the song Free Me,” Murada said.

Tinashe is managed by his twin brother Tinashe who expressed joy over the premiering of the video.

He said the launch came at a time when the audience’s attention was divided by several events including Shoko Festival, Mbira Festival and the Gunyana Mbira Bira which were happening concurrently.

He added that the launch of the video was a blessing as they have never had such precious moments to celebrate their other achievements including birthdays.

“He is my twin brother and there has never been a day in our lives when we celebrated our lives in front of such an appreciating audience. I am super excited and thrilled. My role in this production was basically of putting all things in place for the recording of the music and video respectively. I am very pleased to realise such an achievement.”

Rumbidzai Maketo who was part of the audience said: “I am here to support Nyasha who will all know is getting popular through his ethnic music and I am pretty sure he will one day take the world by storm. He is enjoying good follow ups for live and studio performances including online spaces. I wish him the best.”

Ela The Garden owner and director Eleni Athitaki was impressed with the successful launch of Free Me , and promised to bring more exciting entertainment from the established and up-and-coming musicians.
