Born and bred in Chitungwiza, the hip-hop singer, songwriter and mbira player always wanted to represent his roots, which is why he fused mbira into his music.
He is actually on a mission to tell stories of his roots through content he produces proving that changing culture is not something on his bucket list.
Lishomwa is one of those artistes who prefer to be addressed by her totem Madhuve, referring to the zebra animal species. As a result, she has come to be called Sasha Amadhuve.
Ndlovu, who is a resident artist at Bulawayo’s National Gallery of Zimbabwe (NGZ), said the reason behind the artwork was to motivate people that to every cloud there is a silver lining.
“For an artist to be recognised, I believe you need to work on massive monumental pieces for outdoor display in different areas like parks, museums or zoos,” he noted.
The social media comments which I receive after posting a video of my sessions also give me strength as I come to know that I will be inspiring someone out there.
