The Mufakose Fitness Forum is set to celebrate veteran bodybuilder Masiye Suwali for his 40-year service in the bodybuilding and fitness industry when they host this year’s edition of the Mr. and Ms Mufakose Bodybuilding contest.
Masiye is turning 60-years-old this month and is a key figure and very popular at the local and national levels in bodybuilding sports.
At 60, Masiye is the title holder of Mr. Mufakose Bodybuilding masters category and this year he is facing stiff challenge from the likes of Tendai Mukariri and Peter Tomu, among others in the class.
Speaking to The Sports Hub Muchada Mutini, a senior bodybuilder contestant and member of the Mr and Ms Mufakose organizing committee revealed the plan to celebrate the veteran fitness enthusiast.
"This is God-given grace and he has given 40 years of service to the bodybuilding and fitness industry and is very popular at both local and national levels in sports. Sir Masiye Suwali participated in local community events until he rose to national level, competing in bodybuilding shows under Harare bodybuilding and fitness under the auspices of the National Federation of Zimbabwe Body Building and Fitness, Mutini said.
Mutini also expressed appreciation to Masiye for his influence in the bodybuilding industry as he contributes in keeping young people out of the streets.
"He is also helping youngsters to be drug free through engaging them in various gym training clubs in Mufakose. Moreso, he is a mentor who mentored local senior bodybuilders who are always competing despite their ages which are above 40 years. Our Mr Mufakose Andrew Nyamande and I are some of the seniors who are still competing and looking to defend our titles,” he said.
The Mufakose Fitness Forum is also looking for sponsors interested in supporting bodybuilding and helping to celebrate the legendary Suwali in this year's Mr and Miss Mufakose Bodybuilding Contest.
“We are proud of our sponsors who support our bodybuilding contests. However, we are inviting newly and interested sponsors to join us in celebrating our legend and to be part of this year's Mr and Miss Mufakose Bodybuilding contest to be held this year, whose dates are to be announced.
"ln Mufakose we are looking for potential bodybuilders who can defend the legacy of our home ground as it is known as the home of championship,” he said.
