Ntabazinduna baby-dumping woman granted bail

Ncube granted her US$50 bail with conditions.

A 28-YEAR-OLD Ntabazinduna woman who dumped her newborn baby in a blair toilet has been granted bail.

Primrose Moyo (28) appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Maxwell Ncube to answer to a charge of attempted infanticide.

Ncube granted her US$50 bail with conditions.

The accused will return to court on March 5.

The court was informed that on February 11, Moyo went to Bhekeni Clinic in Ntabazinduna, where she dumped her baby in a blair

toilet.

She then proceeded to the clinic’s casualty room, where she was attended to by a nurse who discovered that Moyo was bleeding and admitted her for treatment.

Moyo was then referred to Mpilo Central Hospital for further care.

On the same day, Johnson Moyo, a security guard at Bhekeni Clinic, heard a baby crying from the blair toilet.

He alerted a nurse, Sehlule Moyo, who then reported the matter to the police, leading to the infant being retrieved from the toilet by law enforcement agents.

The baby was also taken to Mpilo Hospital for further treatment.

A police report was made, which led to the arrest of Moyo.
