Tsholotsho engages Campfire for schools rehab

This was confirmed by Tsholotsho ward 8 councillor Jazz Sibanda, who said they had been engaging Campfire to help develop schools in the ward.

TSHOLOTSHO Rural District Council has engaged the Community Areas Management Programme for Indigenous Resources (Campfire) Association of Zimbabwe to rehabilitate seven schools in ward 8.

This was confirmed by Tsholotsho ward 8 councillor Jazz Sibanda, who said they had been engaging Campfire to help develop schools in the ward.

“We have taken an initiative to engage Campfire in order to get funds to develop existing schools in ward 8,” he said.

“This current drought has affected parents to an extent that they are failing to pay school fees and levies to develop the schools.”

Sibanda said funds from Campfire would help to develop and renovate schools as they are no longer conducive for the learners.

The seven schools are Tshitatshawa Secondary, Tshitatshawa Primary, Sasedza Primary, Ntulula Primary, Sandawana Primary, Butabubili Primary and Mtshina Secondary.

Sibanda said villagers were waiting for the cement they purchased for the project.

Tsholotsho North legislator Libion Sibanda said ward 8 was one of the several wards that benefited from the Campfire programme and the community was developing schools using the funds.

“Campfire is the only source of income that we have in Tsholotsho North and that is why we are using the funds to develop the community,” Sibanda said.

Campfire Association is a registered private voluntary organisation that co-ordinates institution under the Campfire programme in Zimbabwe.

The association’s mission is to promote and facilitate Campfire projects by engaging rural district councils, their constituent communities and other relevant public and private agencies.

It also implements and supports activities in developing communal areas through the sustainable utilisation of wildlife and other natural resources in communal areas.
