BULAWAYO comedian General Lesley has revealed that he will stage a debut one-man show titled Afterlife on October 19 in Bulawayo.
Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style, General Lesley said he was preparing for his first major one-man show that will take place at the Bulawayo Theatre.
He said the event would be opened with a live musical show before the main comedy show took place. However, the list of artistes to curtain-raise is yet to be announced.
“It is my first ever one-man show and I have mixed feelings honestly. When I run through my lines, I get excited, but then, when I remember that it is the first and it has to really put me on the map, I really get nervous,” he said.
“Plus the pressure of heralding with a bang is too much. I desire a world that is full of love, unity and peace and that I bring that heavenly experience to earth and be human.”
Afterlife is a stand-up comedy production that delves into the universally shared reality that everyone is going to die and that the uncertainty of what is going to happen afterwards remains a mystery.
“By addressing these deep existential topics through comedy, Afterlife brings humour to the serious reflections about mortality, legacy and how we treat others,” he said.
“The light-hearted yet insightful approach will allow the audience to confront their own beliefs towards life and death while laughing at the absurdities of nature.”
