THE newly-established Stone and Water Resort joint in Mvurwi, Mashonaland Central province, is proving to be home to artistes from across genres if the number of musicians who have so far performed there are anything to go by.
Established about four months ago and still under construction, the joint has already hosted both seasoned and up-and-coming artistes such as Mbare-based dancehall sensation Kinnah, Poptan, Jah Lemmy, David Butau and Dancing Queens.
This Saturday revellers will be in for a treat when Sungura music grandee Nicholas “Madzibaba” Zakaria performs at the joint.
At the concert themed Sungura Night, The Khiama Boys frontman will share the stage with rising star Tryson Pamire and his Lullaby Express.
The talented left-handed guitarist, also popularly known as “Senior Lecturer”, is a torch bearer on the showbiz scene. He has a track record of nurturing musical greats, among them Simon Mutambi and the late System Tazvida.
Stone and Water Resort proprietor Vitalis Kereke told NewsDay Life & Style that they have a unique way of doing showbiz.
“We support emerging talent by pairing them with the industry’s veterans to share ideas. It is such collaborations that help rising artistes in their endeavour to grow their talents,” he said.
“As we try to do our part as a way of giving back to the society through entertainment among other initiatives, we also encourage big artistes to assist these up-and-coming musicians.”

In his efforts to uplift talent, Kereke said he would be soon establishing a studio in Mvurwi for easy recording in Mvurwi and surrounding farming areas. He said up-and-coming local artistes would be supported with resources to record their music.
Apart from hosting live concerts, Stone and Water Resort is also promoting Agro Tourism, a form of commercial enterprise that links agricultural production and/or processing with tourism.
“We offer boat cruising and a camping venue for events as we commit to provide entertainment in Mvurwi,” Kereke said.
