THE Zifa normalisation committee has settled for Uganda as the venue for Zimbabwe’s Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) home match against Cameroon next month.
The homeless Warriors are away to Kenya on September 4 in their opening Group J match of the 2025 Afcon qualifiers.
Zifa were considering taking Zimbabwe’s home game against Cameroon on September 10 to South Africa, where the team enjoys massive support.
However, Zifa secretary-general Yvonne Manwa told NewsDay Sport that the Warriors would remain in Uganda after their clash with Kenya.
The East African nation will host Zimbabwe in Kampala at the Mandela National Stadium since they also do not have a Caf-certified stadium to host international matches.
Kenya’s two main stadiums, Nyayo Stadium and Kasarani Sports Complex, are currently undergoing renovations in preparation for CHAN 2025 and Afcon 2027 tournaments and are not ready for use.
Manwa previously told NewsDay Sport that remaining in Uganda makes more sense in terms of logistics, although hosting the match in South Africa was ideal because of the support base the team enjoys there.
Zimbabwe played their previous two home matches at neutral venues.

The Warriors hosted Nigeria in Rwanda last year, before they played Lesotho in South Africa this year in the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.
Zimbabwe will be under new Germany coach Michael Nees.
The expatriate, whose work permit is being processed, is yet to arrive into the country to start work.
His first assignment will be to select a squad to play in the upcoming qualifiers.
The remaining Group J Afcon matches will be played in October and November.
In October, Zimbabwe play back-to-back matches against Namibia.
The two matches are likely to be played in South Africa since Namibia also do not have a Caf-certified stadium.
Zimbabwe will then host Kenya before travelling to Cameroon at the start of November.
Two teams that finish at the top of the group after the round robin matches will automatically qualify to the Afcon finals set for Morocco next year.
