TEN musical groups will battle it out at this year’s Chibuku Road to Fame grand finale, an edition that has been dominated by the Afro-fusion genre.
The competition began on September 28 in provinces, with the national finals set for November 9 at the Glamis Arena in Harare.
Over the years, the competition has enabled up-and-coming artistes to participate and showcase their musical talent.
While previous editions have showcased various genres, this year’s competition seems to be a battle for honours among Afro-fusion groups.
Eight out of the 10 finalists are Afro-fusion groups, with the other two being sungura and gospel outfits.
“The provincial finals have been met with a lot of excitement, delivering bonding moments for our consumers through extended drinking occasions,” the organisers said in a statement.
“Ten provincial final competitions were successfully conducted and the finalists have earned a spot to compete at the national final competitions.”
The organisers said preparations for the finals were underway.

Freeman HKD, Feli Nandi, Chillspot Family, Master H and 911 Band (the Chibuku Road to Fame 2023 winners will be guest performers.
Delta Corporation is involved, through its principal subsidiary Delta Beverages, in the brewing of lager and traditional beer and the bottling of soft drinks under licence from the Coca-Cola Company.
The following groups have made it to the national finals: The Cousins (Midlands), Shanty Town (Mashonaland Central), Outlaws (Harare), Fugees Band (Matabeleland South), Pilgrims of Christ (Mashonaland East) and Bulawayo’s Tawedzegwa Sungura.
Kweseka (Matabeleland North), Vibrant Band, Boom Jazz (Mashonaland West) and Panhimbe Crew complete the list of the finalists.
The event starts at 10am and entrance is free.
