ZIMBABWE-BORN Poland-based singer Natasha Tinashe Angela Zembe is on cloud nine.

She is walking with a spring in her step after sharing the stage with Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, Ruger on July 20 at the Afrobeats Weekend in Poland.

Popularly known by her stage name Ashta Eez, the artiste believes she has reached a new milestone in her musical career.

Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style, Ashta Eez gave the event a thumbs up, stating that the experience was one to remember.

“It was a great experience and a well-organised event. I performed three songs which are, namely: Why, which is my latest release, Ayeye and Mjolo,” she said.

“I also performed with a dance group called the Finegirlz, which I am a member of. The crowd was awesome and very supportive, which made me enjoy my experience on stage.”

Her best part was when Ruger went to the stage.

“After performing, Ruger later had to come on stage to perform and he called me to dance with him which was awesome,” she said.

“I was shy on stage, but I had to hold it together. After the show, it was meet and greet backstage. I had a small chat with him and asked him for advice, then we took a picture.”

Ruger has over three million followers on Instagram and is known for his hit song Bounce, which has amassed over 83 million views since its release three years ago leading to him being signed to Jonzing World and Sony Entertainment UK, in a joint venture with Columbia Records.

Ashta Eez’s songs include Ndii-ii, One, Andizi, Ayeye, Asambeni, Loku, Yoh and Mjolo.

She recalled how just a few days after the Afrobeats show she received a call from Voice of America Border Crossings hosted by Larry London for a performance interview, adding that it was mixed feelings for her.

“I was excited and nervous at the same time. They did a Zoom interview with me and I had to perform the same songs I performed on stage,” Ashta Eez said.

“I was excited about meeting Larry London and having the interview with him. He helped me to get comfortable during the session.”

SZA, who also happens to be one of Ashta Eez’s favourite artistes, was a guest on the same show a while back.

“I felt excited that I was now on the same show,” she said.

Border Crossings is the Voice of Americas’ perennial daily music programme on the air since 1996 and broadcasts in over 100 countries.
