IN Warsaw, Poland, lies a woman with a majestic voice that could move mountains, with tunes that comfort even the most worn out soul.
Zimbabwean-born rough diamond, Natasha Tinashe Angela Zembe, popularly known as Ashta Eez, has dropped a single titled Why.
Ashta Eez is back after a successful run with her last release Mjolo.
The heartwarming single, produced by Zimbabwe-based hit maker Victor Enlisted, was released on June 28, 2024.
Born in Bulawayo, Ashta Eez moved to Harare, for most of her childhood before travelling and living in Botswana, South Africa and now Poland.
In the new song, the sonstress said she puts herself in the mind of someone who is in a relationship.
“Why is a story about how any girl still believes in a relationship with her male partner, who is considering calling it off,” Ashta Eez told NewsDay Life & Style.
“The relationship is facing problems repeatedly and the man feels like giving up, but the lady, represented by me in the song, is begging him not to give up as she feels like there’s still love.”

Lyrics like, tell me what to do, I’m still in love with you and baby if you go, I will lose control, are powerful lyrics that show how sometimes one has to fight for what they truly still believe is there.
“At least make it clear so that the other person knows how you feel. Sometimes being vulnerable and speaking your heart can really be vital in keeping a relationship alive. Oftentimes, we act like we do not need the people we love and they end up leaving,” she said.
After releasing Mjolo last year, Ashta Eez said she had put music on hold.
“I haven’t been fully consistent, I had to hold off many projects after releasing Mjolo because I also have life situations that I deal with, especially being an independent artist, so if I’m not in the right space I do not release anything. However, I’m working on being consistent,” she said.
“Why is a different song from Mjolo. This time, I am showing the softer side of me, whereas in Mjolo, it was the energetic and tougher side of me.”
Some of her notable songs include Ndii-ii, One, Andizi, Ayeye, Asambeni, Loku, Yoh and Mjolo.
Ashta Eez said of all her singles, her favourite song was Ayeye.
“It was a fun project and the fact that I also met great people and had a great artist on it,” she said.
Ashta Eez has been the opening act for many prominent artistes such as at Amara Brown and Mr Eazy’s concert alongside John Cole Nation in Harare; for Uncle Waffles in Poland; for Musa Keys alongside Mabs at Zim Link Up in Poland, and for Tyler ICU at Afropolska at Zim Link Up in March this year.
She said the highlight of her career was being the opening act for Omah Lay at the Boy Alone World Tour in Poland.
“I want to collaborate with artistes from different countries, including my own country, Zimbabwe. I also want to try different genres of music and make better and more artistic videos. My dream is to win a BET, VMA, African Award or a Grammy,” she said.
“Basically, I want to grow and develop my voice through the passage of time as well as my dancing and writing. I hope to learn more through working with talented writers.”
Ashta Eez said she is currently working on monetising her brand by selling merchandise in the form of Ashta Eeze T-shirts.
