AMERICAN superhero film Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever based on the Marvel Comics character Black Panther is set to premiere in Zimbabwe and tickets are already sold out, NewsDay Life & Style has gathered.
The Zimbabwe premiere, set for this Friday at Ster-Kinekor Sam Levy’s Cinema in Borrowdale, Harare, is being organised by Charlie Stevens International.
It follows the successful African premiere of the film in Lagos, Nigeria, on Sunday, which was attended by some of the film’s cast that included Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye and Dora Milaje.
This African premiere was followed by a red-carpet event where Nigerian celebrities and creatives displayed their exquisitely designed African prints that mirrored the movie’s theme and its fictional African setting, “Wakanda”.
The film’s synopsis follows the story of Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye and Dora Milaje who fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death.
As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes’ band together with Nakia and Everett Ross forge a new path for their beloved kingdom.
Charlie Stevens International representative Chiedza Makwara told NewsDay Life & Style that those to grace the Zimbabwean premiere would be treated to a breath-taking event.
“We are tirelessly working towards bringing to the attendees a memorable event as they gather for the premiere of Black Panther 2 at Ster-Kinekor Sam Levy’s Cinema in Borrowdale,” she noted.

“We are warranting the international standard by inviting various local celebrities expected to be dressed in designer outfits that will be matching the theme of Afro-futurism.”
Makwara said local songwriter and singer Anita Jaxson will be the special guest at the premiere to resemble the new female Black Panther in the movie after Chadwick “T’Challa” Boseman’s passing on.
“In the movie, the new Black Panther hero is a woman and we decided to make our special guest a female (Jaxson), to empower the women and also appreciate the role of women in the movie."
“They say that Wakanda is a place in Africa, so it means that this story is our story and we shall try and make its launch a success in all aspects,” she said.
Ster Kinekor Sam Levy’s Cinema branch manager Chloe Tichareva said in partnership with corporate sponsors, they were making sure the premiere was a resounding success.
“The premiere’s preparations are progressing well and with the tickets sold out, it is a sign that we are on track so far,” she said.
“We are going to host a red and black carpet, so that we incorporate the whole red theme as per procedures, but at the same time we are hoping for a black carpet which is in line with the movie that is showing.”
Tichareva added that they were running a promotion, whereby if someone comes to the premiere wearing something related to Wakanda, they would receive a gift.
