‘Childhood love for art inspired me’

Zambuko said graphic design shapes how we perceive the world.

HARARE-BASED graphic designer Nyasha Zambuko says his childhood love for art and drawing planted seeds that eventually led him to become the successful graphic designer he is today.

“I started my journey as a graphic  designer  in 2012  and my childhood  love of art  and drawing planted the seeds that eventually  led me to become  a graphic  designer  l am today,” he said.

“It’s incredible how those early interests shaped my professional journey.”

Zambuko said graphic design shapes how we perceive the world.

“Graphic design shapes how we perceive the world. It paints the unspoken emotions and impressions mankind hides within,” he said.

“Think of images, fonts, and colors; they are like visual cues that guide our emotions and decisions.

“Have you ever noticed that a well-designed logo sticks in your memory?

“That’s graphic design at work! It enhances branding and helps businesses communicate effectively to all age groups and cultures within a specific area.

“Design isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s a force for good. From posters advocating for equality to digital campaigns raising awareness, graphic design fuels social movements.

The graphic designer said curiosity, learning new tools and embracing trends kept him in the industry for so long.

“Well what kept me going for so long in the industry it’s like a blend of caffeine and curiosity?” he said.

“The industry evolves faster than a chameleon changes colours so staying curious, learning new tools, and embracing trends like a design ninja, I adapt.

“Also the thrill of turning ideas into visuals it’s my daily dose of inspiration.

Zambuko said he believed graphic designing can be a high-paying job and shared his vision of becoming one of the leading creative designers in Africa.

“Graphic design can indeed be a rewarding path if you steer your creative ship wisely,” he said.

“When you’re the expert in your niche, gigs find you clients seek specialists, not generic picture pushers.

“You have to make sure you always and also show that you are capable of bringing in value to a client, that way you are guaranteed of always getting good paying jobs.”
