DIGITAL space has become the main sustenance platform for the music industry as it holds the potency for growth of artistes, says Afro-Fusion artiste David Hondoyedzomba, aka HD.
The Bindura-born musician, who is promoting his latest 10-track album titled MaRecovery, said he has changed strategies to grow himself.
“Digital space holds our key to development in this era,” said HD.
“Personally, I migrated from the traditional record label techniques to digital online stores and social media platforms to help distribute and market music online.
“We need to be observant; the era of compact disks and poster is gone for good, to embrace environmentally smart techniques digital marketing is the way to go.”
He stressed that the project stands as a reminder of the Covid-19 induced lockdown experiences that turned out to be a global turning point as masses were forced to find alternative ways to make ends meet.
“MaRecovery is a project I purely did for my fans,” he said.
“Lockdown offered citizens of the world a shocking experience, yet an experience we all needed for us to attest to the power of God and the supernatural powers that surround mankind.”
HD said as he looked up to reuniting with fans across the country and beyond his messages were aligned to promoting love for one another, our culture as a people and environment around us.
“MaRecovery, in other words is a mark of my come back, and am keen to talk about challenges during the Covid-19 and the harrowing experiences that left many in shock,” HD said.
“If I may say, it was a painful experience and life was hard for many.
“The experience was soul-tearing.”
He said on his quest to celebrate life, his plans were to travel to as many places as possible to celebrate with fans.
“I recently launched my nationwide tour in Ruwa, the view being to celebrate the gift of life and escape memories of the past regardless of how heartbreaking they were,” said HD.
“It has been long since I last performed live, but for our fans we are ready and prepared to go out there and perform again.”
MaRecovery carries tracks that include Bhachura, Recovery, Hupenyu Hauite, Chembere Dzemuno, HD Tenga Mota ft Kireni Zulu, Do Me ft Taku Wemhazi and Hupenyu.
HD has four musical albums under his belt namely Uncle Sam (2012), Bhora Mberi (2015), HD the Album (2018) and his latest offering MaRecovery.
In his bid to promote the new album, HD will, on Wednesday, stop over at his traditional port of call for a mid week gig at Zimcafe.
