Letter to my people : The scarf cost Botswana’s Masisi dearly

Masisi, whose Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), was removed from power for the first time since 1966 thought he had found a magic wand after roping in Zimbabwe’s ruining party into their campaign, but he paid dearly for mixing with bad apples.

My Dear People

The shock defeat of former Botswana president Mokgweetsi Masisi in last week’s elections was brought upon by his association with that infamous scarf.

Masisi, whose Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), was removed from power for the first time since 1966 thought he had found a magic wand after roping in Zimbabwe’s ruining party into their campaign, but he paid dearly for mixing with bad apples.

BDP is now the smallest opposition party in Botswana’s parliament after going into last Wednesday’s polls.

It only has four seats compared to the Umbrella Democratic Change (UDC), which has 36 seats.

Even former president Ian Khama’s Botswana Patriotic Front has more seats (five) than Masisi’s party.

What an embarrassment! He ignored warnings from different quarters that associating with the scarfed one can only bring bad luck kikikikiki

Munopengaaaaaaaa

The landmark ruling by the High Court that ministers of the dispensation of poverty, darkness and confusion return money they had taken without seeking authorisation, is  yet another indication of how this cabal is a national embarrassment which is not fit for purpose.

The High Court ordered Labour minister July Moyo and Higher and Tertiary Education minister Frederick Shava to reimburse Treasury ZiG200 million they had taken,  which was meant to cater for the poor, elderly and other vulnerable citizens in the country.

The two ministers were sued by former opposition legislator Marvellous Khumalo who alleged that the two ministers had violated  the Public Finance Management (Treasury Instructions of 2019) and the constitution.

That the two ministers took money meant for the disadvantaged shows the callous and heartless nature of this Scarfmore-led regime.

Indeed it takes a particular kind of insensitiveness to grab money from the disadvantaged, most of whom have been impoverished by the scorched earth policies of the very same regime of the scarfed one.

It is a crying shame that progressive individuals of the opposition such as Khumalo are no longer in Parliament which is now infested by stooges of the Ngwena regime who scandalously pose as opposition MPs and senators.

Munopengaaa!!!

The desperation of this dysfunctional regime to be seen in a positive light has reached comical levels.

The Scarfmore-led regime has dreamt up what it calls a Citizens Satisfaction Survey.

According to this joke of a survey, among the top performers are the Public Service Commission, Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education and the Information ministry.

This is buffoonery writ large.

What satisfaction can the country’s citizens express over a regime that has presided over unprecedented levels of power outages of up to 18 hours daily that has severely eroded their incomes and savings with failed currencies?

How, in the name of all that is sane, can the country’s citizens express satisfaction when public hospitals have become death traps and have been run down to the extent that they have to buy even basic necessities such as bandages?

It is shocking that these bozos waste time cooking up fictitious surveys at a time they should be seized with addressing the country’s numerous ills which have been perpetuated by their unforgivable levels of incompetence.

What the country’s citizens are more interested in is well equipped public hospitals, availability of power and a currency that does not lose value on nearly a daily basis than this hogwash which is fabricated in some government office.

Munopengaaa!!!

The circus emanating from the recently held Anti-Sanctions Day continues apace with revelations that a group of parliamentarians are going to waste taxpayers’ money by flying to the United States to lobby the US congress to lift sanctions.

Congressmen in the United States are unlikely to be moved by pleas of these parliamentarians just because they have flown all the way from Zimbabwe.

It is yet another harebrained scheme by the Scarfmore regime after their laughable and futile move of paying thousands of dollars in the greenback to international public relations companies to persuade the United States to remove the restrictions namely the Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act in 2001 over human rights violations.

It is foolhardy to send parliamentarians to the US congress at a time the regime has jailed members of the opposition, without bail, such as Jameson Timba and others for nearly 150 days for simply gathering for a party at his residence and when Scarfmore has ignored calls by the same United States to implement recommendations by the commission that was led by the former South African President Kgalema Motlanthe which called for the soldiers who shot and killed citizens during protests over election results on August 1 2018  to be brought to account.

This useless junket to the United States by parliamentarians is throwing much needed forex down the drain.

Munopengaaa!!!

I hooted with laughter at the praise being heaped on Scafmore  after  he declined  the  amateurishly co-ordinated resolution at the Zanu PF conference for him to stay in power beyond the constitutional term limit of 2028.

The praise that caused me much mirth was that the decline by the scarfed one was a result of the octogenarian being a ‘constitutionalist”.

This is the same man who ignored the constitution when he was propelled into power on the back of guns and tanks.

This so-called “constitutionalist” tried to smuggle a whole commander of the army into the Zanu PF politburo, which is a brazen violation of the constitution that prohibits the army from dabbling in partisan politics.

This so-called  “constitutionalist’’ was forced to rescind the appointment of  some non-legislators into cabinet after he exceeded the number permitted by the supreme law of the land.

That this has happened not once but twice makes  the praise, that he is a staunch constitutionalist, laughable.

His decline of the resolution to extend beyond the constitutional term limit is more likely to do with factionalist fights in the party rather than the bollocks of the scarfed one’s  respect for the constitution.
