LEADER of Johanne the 5th of Africa Andby Makururu has said the church should not sleep on its laurels but should partner the government in economic development projects.
He made the remarks while addressing his church members in the capital this week.
He added that 2023 is the turning point for Zimbabwe if the country puts faith in the current leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The country is expected to hold its 2023 harmonised elections next year.
“2023 is a turning point for Zimbabwe and if we put our faith and trust in our government. We will generate a powerful common goal. We will get a government we deserve,” he added
“The church should not sit on the terraces any more. It must support the President Emmerson Mnangagwa in his quest to deliver his 2030 vision,” he added
“We at Johanne the 5TH OF Africa we commit to supporting his Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa for the powerful social and economic transformation that is taking place in the country. Yes we are not yet there, but everything is being done to lay a strong foundation for economic development,” he added
“The church needs to transform its approach and adapt to changes around it and it can only do so when it turns itself into a local institution that lives with people in their communities every day,”.

“We are ready to partner, cooperate and where possible to collaborate with government in its efforts to strengthen our sovereignty and to bolster national development,” he added
Makururu recently met Mnangagwa at State House where he pledged his support for the President ahead of the 2023 elections.
He has claimed that Mnangagwa will win in the next year’s harmonised elections where he will battle out with Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).
