THREE men from Gweru have been slapped with a 30-year jail term each after they were convicted of murdering a man they accused of calling one of them his brother-in-law.
Zamani (46), Mehluli (37) and Mpilwenzima Ndlovu (34), who are siblings, had been arraigned before the Gweru Magistrates Court on charges of murder.
In a statement this week, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe said on June 4 last year, the trio and the now-deceased were drinking beer at a local shop.
The court heard that, while drinking, the now-deceased addressed one of the brothers as his brother-in-law because he had a child with his sister (the deceased’s sister).
This did not go down well with the trio who protested and assaulted him with fists all over his body.
They also struck him with a brick and stabbed him with a knife, leading to his death.
The trio was arrested by the police with help from the public.
