A 27-YEAR-OLD man from Kezi under Chief Bidi has been nabbed by the police for killing his drinking mate in a dispute over beer.

Matabeleland South police spokesperson Inspector Loveness Mangena confirmed the incident and identified the suspect as Forget Ncube from Sihayi under Chief Bidi.

She also identified the victim as Evidence Maphosa (28), from Bhewula under Chief Malaba.

“The two were drinking beer at Esiqongweni Bar at Sun Yet Sen. Ncube accused Maphosa of drinking his beer and a misunderstanding ensued, leading to Ncube slapping Maphosa,” Mangena said.

“Maphosa left the drinking place, but Ncube followed him and stabbed him once on the left side of the chest with a knife. Maphosa died on the spot.”

She said the matter was reported to the police, adding that Ncube was immediately apprehended, while the suspected murder weapon was recovered at the scene of the incident.
