Residents scrutinise candidates

The BPRA is holding a citywide ‘Meet the candidate’ series where aspiring candidates from different political parties are put to task on their election promises.

The Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association (BPRA) has urged residents to capitalise on its election debate series so that they vote for the right candidates on August 23.

The BPRA is holding a citywide ‘Meet the candidate’ series where aspiring candidates from different political parties are put to task on their election promises.

BPRA chairperson Ambrose Sibindi said residents need to know the candidates they are voting for.

“This is critical because these aspiring leaders need to present themselves to us as residents so that we get to know their background, track record in Bulawayo and also get to know their brief manifestos showing us why we should elect them,” Sibindi said.

Sibindi said this will also enable residents to elect locals.

“The most important thing is that as the residents, we need not to elect a person that we don’t know,” he said.

“We don’t want to elect people who will come in to loot and make money.
