Authorities at the government-run Newmansford Primary School in, Bulawayo’s Queenspark suburb have been accused of corruption.
School Development Committee (SDC) vice chairperson Pendros Gumbo said the school was choking with a debt overhang owing to maladministration.
“The school has not paid water bills since 2020,” Gumbo said.
“On January 4, water was cut off and up until now the school has no water.”
Gumbo said electricity supplies were also cut over outstanding payments.
“Things are not well at the school, parents are not happy,” he said.
“Last year, we applied to the ministry to buy computers but money was spent but no single computer was bought.”
He also raised concern that learners were not getting any meals despite paying levies towards the feeding programme.
