BY DESMOND CHINGARANDE THE late former Zanu PF politburo member Tendai Savanhu’s widow, Tendai has been thrown out of her Glen Lorne, Harare matrimonial home by the politician’s ex-wife Sabina, who is claiming ownership of the property.
The widow claimed that Sabina and her son Tatenda wanted to repossess properties left in her custody by her late husband.
She appealed against eviction and the court ruled in her favour.
However, she was denied access to the property by security officers hired by Sabina.
She approached the High Court for recourse, but Justice Gladys Mhuri dismissed her application.
“Whereupon, after reading documents filed on record and hearing counsel, it is ordered the application be and is hereby dismissed,” Justice Mhuri ruled.
In her application, Tendai said she was homeless.
“There is no one living at the house and I am now homeless along with my children. The matter under MC2681/21 is ongoing and my continued residence at the property will not prejudice Sabina in any way,” she said.

Tendai alleged that Sabina and her son wanted to elbow her out of the empire she helped build.
She has also sued her late husband’s lawyer Partson Matandadzi for conniving with Sabina in the fight for Savanhu’s estate.
According to court papers, Matandadzi is the executor of Savanhu’s estate and was given the role to pay the family’s expenses through Savanhu’s company, T and S Marketing.
Tendai wants their assets to be declared part of Savanhu’s estate.
She said Savanhu did not distinguish his personal affairs from the affairs of his company.
The widow said they acquired the stand in Glen Lorne in 1999 where they built their matrimonial home.
She said they moved in soon after completion and lived there for 20 years with their three children before her husband died.
According to the declaration, she is the one who was responsible for the designing of the house, monitoring its construction and daily running of the family.
The stand was registered under Savanhu’s T and S Marketing company.
She said Sabina had long been removed as one of the directors of the company and never attended or took part in shareholder meetings.
