Mudenda wives arrested for dagga possession

The two, Rosemary Siangumbula (47) and Queen Sijima (39), have since appeared in court.

POLICE in the Midlands province have arrested two women of Siachengwa village, Gokwe North, after they were found in possession of large quantities of dagga.

The two, Rosemary Siangumbula (47) and Queen Sijima (39), have since appeared in court.

Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the arrests yesterday and urged the public to desist from peddling drugs.

“Rosemary Siangumbula (47) and Queen Sijima (39) were arrested at their homestead in Siachengwa village under Chief Simuchembo on August 15 by a team of officers who were on patrol following a tip-off,” he said.

Mahoko said police discovered that the two were co-wives to a man by the name John Mudenda (51).

“During the arrest, Siangumbula’s hut was searched and that resulted in the recovery of 4x20-litre buckets and a small plastic paper bag all full of prepared dagga. Sijima’s hut was also searched and a sack full of loose dried dagga was recovered,” the police spokesperson added.

The street value of the dagga is yet to be ascertained.

“The general public is informed that dealing in or possession of dangerous drugs without a licence is a crime,” Mahoko said.
