Veteran musician Emmanuel Thomas has emphasised the importance of training and skills development in the fight against drug and substance abuse.
Thomas, a former member of the Frontline Kids, has worked with notable artistes such as Oliver Mtukudzi, Cde Chinx and Brian Sibalo (all late) among others.
He told Standard Style that a long-term strategy is crucial to addressing the drug scourge.
"To combat drug and substance abuse, youth needs to be educated about the dangers of drugs and substance abuse,” Thomas said.
"The devil is at work trying to destroy the lives of the youth through drugs and substance abuse.
“Awareness campaigns needs to be intensified nation wide to save the live of the future generation.”
Thomas believes collective action is necessary.
"As a nation, we must provide solutions that align with existing policies and plans, utilizing available resources effectively." to alleviate their lives,” he said

Thomas and former bandmate Noel Zembe recently released a single titled Vhuvhuruka.
The song tackles issues affecting the youth, including immorality and drug abuse.
Recorded in the US and Zimbabwe, Vhuvhuruka blends traditional genres mhande and chinyambera.
Thomas and Zembe encourage listeners to look beyond the secular label and appreciate the message.
"As clergymen, we urge people to listen to the music's message before dismissing it,” Thomas said
“Secular music can relay valuable wisdom and provide an opportunity for counseling and preaching.”
