The Victoria Falls Carnival and South African musicians DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small, and Shasha have finally reached an amicable resolution, following a widely publicised dispute that involved the police and the courts.
The South African entertainers DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small, and Shasha drew the ire of Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls Carnival organisers after all three failed to attend the event in 2022.
The carnival organisers accused the trio of failing to honour their contract despite being paid in full.
As a result, the organisers demanded that the trio repay all the money they had received.
Additionally, they were ordered to reimburse the costs of flights and accommodation that had been booked for them but not used.
A Bulawayo High Court issued an arrest warrant after the trio performed in the city a few months later. However, Maphorisa and Kabza De Small managed to avoid arrest by partially refunding the money.
Later, Bulawayo High Court Judge Justice Martin Makonese granted an order for the Vic Falls Carnival to repay US$18,400 to Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa, which they had paid as security to avoid arrest. The carnival organisers declared their intention to appeal the order.
This week, Vic Falls Carnival Director Brent Williamson announced that they had reconciled with the South African trio and were ready to collaborate on future events.

Dj Iroq of Mashwede Village said the event is going to be one to remember, as Kabza makes his debut in Harare.
“It’s going to be one to remember and also a celebration of peace. It’s going to be Kabza’s debut in Harare and a good way to set the festive mood alive in the capital,” said DJ Iroq.
