All Set for Gweru Talent Show

The Gweru Talent Show is all set to take place on October 5 at Mutapa Hall in the city.

The Gweru Talent Show is all set to take place on October 5 at Mutapa Hall in the city.

The event will feature performances from local artists such as DJ Terrybo, Magaivha and Detective Rhymes, as well as a special appearance by Xiddo Chikandamina (pictured).

Speaking to Standard Style, event coordinator Bright Duwart revealed that the theme of the talent show is Mega Help (Learn to Say No).

This theme aims to educate young people about the dangers of peer pressure, drugs, prostitution, and gangsterism.

Duwart hopes that the event would help prevent early pregnancies and school dropouts, which are often caused by these issues.

“Our event is about teaching youths to say no to negative influences,” said Duwart.

“We believe that showcasing their talents can help them realise their potential and avoid harmful behaviours.”

The event is hosted by the Youth Power Group (YPG) in partnership with the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).

Duwart, who was once involved with drugs before joining YPG, is particularly excited about the upcoming event.

“I’m very excited because I personally struggled with drugs and alcohol before joining YPG,” he said.

“This event is a great opportunity to show young people that there’s a better way to live.”

Duwart expects the event to attract a large crowd of young people, as well as members of the general public. In addition to performances, attendees can expect educational talks from YPG and the ZRP, as well as a fun and entertaining atmosphere.

The event will feature singing and dancing competitions, with judges on hand to evaluate the participants’ performances.

Youth Power Group is a Christian-based organisation that operates in Gweru, Harare, Bulawayo, and other parts of Zimbabwe.

Their mission is to empower young people to become positive role models in their communities.

Founded in 1999, YPG provides support and guidance to young people in various areas of life, including sports, art, culture, social work, and media.
