Bulawayo's Mr Grey, a musician and dancer, is thrilled that his love song Pakanaka Panovava featuring songstress Seagirl has been picked up by the prestigious Channel O.
Released in February to coincide with Valentine's Day, "Pakanaka Panovava" was Mr Grey's first solo release of 2024. It came before his collaboration on Jah Master's "Thank You Lord."
"This is my first song ever on a regional television channel," Mr Grey said, "and it motivates me to push even harder on my next project."
He continued: "This is a big deal for Zimbabwean music and culture. It exposes us to a wider audience across the region and continent. Working with Seagirl was fantastic, and I hope we can collaborate again."
Love is a constant theme in Mr Grey's music. "Singing about love is my passion. Love is a beautiful thing that lives within all of us and deserves to be celebrated."
"The song explores the complexities of love," he added. "You can love someone who doesn't love you back, but sometimes your heart sets a course it won't be swayed from. Love can be stubborn. You can fall for someone unexpected, and it's hard to walk away."
Seagirl's Shona vocals perfectly complement Mr Grey's own Shona melodies.
Previously, Mr Grey collaborated with Mzoe 7 on "Sharayi" and released the love song "Murudo" expressing deep love.
