Zimbabwean storytellers tackle societal issues with powerful film "4KUS"

The film, which touches on love, sex, and drugs, is set to premiere on June 8 at the Bulawayo Centre, following a successful launch in Harare last week.

In a bid to combat societal problems in Zimbabwe, storytellers have produced a powerful and educational film titled "4KUS."

The film, which touches on love, sex, and drugs, is set to premiere on June 8 at the Bulawayo Centre, following a successful launch in Harare last week.

The trailer captivated audiences with glimpses of the film's diverse characters and the important themes it explores, including drug abuse and sexual exploitation.

According to the Zimbabwe Annual Film and Television Awards (Zafta) publications, "4KUS" is a gripping drama that delves into love, friendship, women's empowerment, and the pressing issue of drug abuse.

"The film follows a determined young woman named Princess navigating the challenges of college life," Zafta explains.

"Inspired by Warren Buffett's selflessness and modesty, Princess strives for success while supporting her friend Brenda, who becomes entangled with Chamba, a dangerous figure involved in drug trafficking. '4KUS' sheds light on the devastating effects of addiction, female empowerment, and the need to recognize women's achievements in various fields."

Zafta goes on to say that "4KUS" explores the complexities of love and friendship, emphasizes women's empowerment and breaking free from societal limitations, and touches upon career guidance, unemployment challenges, and broader social issues like gender inequality and sexual exploitation. The film aims to spark meaningful conversations, raise awareness, and inspire positive social change.

"4KUS" boasts a remarkable cast led by the talented director Billy Kabasa and actress Kundai Mabviko. Veteran performers Vicky Maposa and Takura Murapa bring their experience to the screen alongside rising stars like Pearl Ngwenya, Paul Zigbowa, and Cherron Phillips.
