Youthful actor and singer Alex Marowa is making a name for himself, racking up nominations and awards for his captivating performances.
Recently nominated for the Outstanding Actor Award at the National Arts Merit Awards (Namas), Marowa is riding a wave of success.
His breakout role came in the popular series A High School Diary, where he played the cunning villain Sgora.
The performance not only earned him recognition, but also shaped his perspective on life and judging others.
“After playing that role, I’ve learnt a lot about life in general. It has made me view people from a different perspective that I didn’t have. I can now say I no longer deem people for what they do or who they are,” Marowa told Standard Style.
His talent has been recognised beyond A High School Diary. He received a nomination for the same category at the Roil Bulawayo Arts Awards last year and has appeared in other productions like Chillas, Ndodana in Ziyathunqa and Shakes.
“I am grateful to God above all and I feel like he has my ducks in a row this season,” he said.
“I was stunned to learn that I’ve been nominated again for the same role of Sgora.
