Mr Xtra to usher fans into new year

Makukutu said though  it had been long since he last released new music because of lack of funding, he managed to have a few singles for his fans.

Sungura musician Iyanai Makukutu, whose stage name is Mr Xtra, is set to unleash three singles that will usher his fans into the new year.

Makukutu said though  it had been long since he last released new music because of lack of funding, he managed to have a few singles for his fans.

"I last released a song during the Covid-19 era in 2021 and from there I have been failing to raise enough funds to record songs, however, through some well-wishers and fans who appreciate my music I have managed to record three other singles,"  he said.

He added that people in various sectors of life should appreciate artistes as they go through long and hard times in trying to please the market.

Born and bred in Muzokomba, one of the townships known for producing top Zimbabwean artistes that include Knowledge Kunenyati, Taruvinga Sugar Sugar Manjokota and Wonder Muchini just to mention a few, Makukutu has two albums tittled Zvangu Zvanyanya (2016) and Mundawenzungu (2017)  and several other singles.

He said he was working hard despite the setbacks he faced in the music industry.

"There has been a lot of issues I have been facing and that has affected me as a musician. Now people are waiting for the music, but as long as your finances are not okay it's a hustle, he said.

His wish is to share the stage with Zimbabwe's greatest performers such as Alick Macheso, Romeo Gasa, Jah Prayzah just to mention a few.

He is looking forward to working with a number of artistes in the studio.
