While some are foraging for gold in the bushes and defunct mines of Shurugwi, the duo of Arnold Kadziya and Mashvolts Nyevedzanai and 18 other colleagues would be busy shooting dramas and pushing their content on social media.
Kadziya and Nyevedzanai are leaders of an upcoming multi-media outfit called Starkings Films which is based at Railway Block in Shurugwi.
Starkings Films has been in existence for two years, but their visibility on social media platforms, especially on YouTube has been tremendous, thanks to their sublime dramas and video skits.
They dare to dream, according to Kadziya the brains behind the creation of the project.
“Our group is called Starkings Films and we started in January 2021 in Shurugwi with 20 members, including producers, actors and actresses,” Kadziya said.
“We have produced many dramas and skits and these include Rudo Harurovi, The Unexpected Marriage and New Girlfriend, among others.
“All our dramas are uploaded on our YouTube channel called Starkings films.
“The desire to be creative, accepted and get appreciated inspired us to do dramas and not forgetting that being actors was our dream career.

“We want to compete with Hollywood.”
Kadziya leads the production while Nyevedzanai is the writer and director.
However, the group said they were finding it difficult to have their dramas shown on national television.
“None of our dramas has been aired on television; we once took Rudo Harurovi to ZBC, but it was not broadcast because of some technical issues,” Kadziya said.
He said most of their dramas are shot at Railway Block and other surrounding communities.
“Our dramas teach people life, especially good morals,” Kadziya said.
Kadziya hopes to produce a film and compete on the international scene.
He said their biggest undoing was lack of equipment and high cost of data.
