Shangano Arts Trust director Petros Ndhlovu has set November 22 to 26 as the dates of the 17th edition of the Shangano Arts Festival, in Hwange.
The jamboree will run under the theme Kumusilija meaning revived.
“As Shangano Arts Trust, we are delighted to inform you that our long awaited 17th Edition theme for this year is titled Revived which means Kumusilija in our local Nambyan language,” said Ndhlovu.
“We are reflecting our recent history which has been tried and tested with triumphs and challenges as an organisation for the creative arts in the Matabeleland North region. We are proud to emerge as a revived, bulwark and supercharged stallion,” he said.
Ndhlovu said they have managed to rise, unfettered from the Covid-19 grip, where the promotion and support of the creative industry almost came to a standstill.
“We have stood firm, unmoved with resilience through hardship and found our way to reclaim our vision,” he said.
“Renewed in strength and with hope as our guide, we stepped forth, revived, united, healed and thrived.
“Artistic talent has been revived, support for the artists has been revived and artistic skills revived.

“Hence, this year's festival is going to be a delightful celebration of such revived successes.”
Ndhlovu invited artists to be part of this year’s edition.
“The arts festival aims to enhance knowledge, skills and capacity through arts and cultural activities for transformative social change and community development in marginalised communities in Matabeleland North province,” he said.
“We call for artists who want to participate in this year’s festival.
“Interested artistes from Binga, Hwange, Tsholotsho, Nkayi, Bubi, Mguza and Lupane can submit their applications and portfolios before September 30.”
