KWEKWE artistes are calling for the recognition of Tawanda Jumbo, aka Bantuman I, an outstanding arts personality making an impact by helping young people with opportunities in the arts sector.
Bantuman I has extensively worked on building Duomosteel Entertainment, an arts hub that provides a platform for mentorship, rehearsals, music recording and knowledge exchange in Kwekwe.
Artistes said honouring Bantuman l was key in motivating other arts promoters and curators.
“Personally, he is a great man who is so passionate about music and the arts industry," said music producer Haniel Muzerengwa.
"Through his efforts, he has contributed and benefitted the community by uplifting underprivileged young talents and a lot of upcoming artistes.
“Therefore, it would be a humble expression to honor him for such contribution."
Musician Traver the One said: “His contribution is felt and known to many.
"The school band he created. There is no band in Kwekwe that grew without recognising him for his contribution. Recognising him will go a long way in motivating him to do more,” he said.

Elias Mavengere, known as The Great Lion, described Bantuman l as a valuable asset to the Kwekwe community.
"His contribution has helped a lot of young people venture into music," he said.
“From the time he started his venture, he has always been consistent.”
Banuman I is a teacher by profession.
He has defied all odds to support the developments of the arts industry.
For over a decade he has extensively worked, from his pocket, building a legacy beyond imagination.
Many of his mentees are now playing in various reputable bands across Zimbabwe.
