Byo hosts show for budding comedians

LOL entertainment founder and comedian Dumisani Ndlovu

BULAWAYO Theatre Club, in conjunction with LOL Entertainment Zimbabwe, are set to present an opportunity  for budding comedians to kick-start their careers through a New Material and Open Mic Fringe comedy show.

The show is scheduled for March 10 at the Bulawayo Theatre.

LOL entertainment founder and comedian Dumisani Ndlovu, also known as MaForty, confirmed the development to Standard Style yesterday.

“The New Material and Open Mic show is a platform for Stand Up Comedy try outs, upcoming and seasoned comedians to put out their new material and getting feedback from the audience.

“We want to give an opportunity to those who want to start a career in the standup comedy industry and also bring comedians and audience an intimate affair,” he said.

MaForty said there was a need for more platforms to nurture new talent rising by the day.

“We will host guys that have never performed at all and we want them to mix and mingle with experienced guys so that they share notes on the day. We hope this comes as a regular occurrence in the arts calendar for Stand Up Comedy.

“We will do a similar initiative in Harare and we hope to bring in many people and a different audience we usually get.

“Musicians have listening sessions for their new creations and now we are saying here is a platform for Comedians to try out their new jokes before taking them to bigger stages,” he added.

The event will feature Munashe Mutema, BrandXn M, Mbongeni, Ignatius, Ntobeko Malaba, Tapiwa Harinangoni, D' Juni, Brian Sibanda and many more.
