musician Leslie Kampila

MULTI-FACETTED musician Leslie Kampila is riding high on the success of his single Kumnandi which has taken the region by storm.

Kumnandi, which features Msizkay, has been playlisted on regional radio stations and has been named as the most requested song on South Africa Music TV and also hit the number one spot on the Top 20 chart show.

“It’s been a good season for me, the song (Kumnandi) and its video has gained so much viewership in South Africa as well as Zimbabwe. It became the most requested song on SATV and topped the charts there, which is a huge feat for an artiste like me. The song has also been lined up for a playlist on SABC 1 and it has started to be played on the new TV station — Ke Yona TV.

These achievements are the reason I do more work and push myself harder, it’s those things that inspire and motivate me,” he said.

Kampila revealed that he is working on a collaboration with the multi-platinum award-winning duo Kutklose that churned out hits like Twisted with Keith Sweat and Nobody.

The artiste further revealed that he is working on a single with Afrotainment producers Drumetic Boys from Durban, and locally he is working synergies with Vuyo Brown, Novuyo Seagirl and other artistes.

The Afro-dance and house musician Kampila has shared the stage with high profile artistes such as Sanii Makhalima, Ringo Madlingozi, Alexio Kawara, Joe Nina to mention a few.

In 2019, he released his debut album titled Timeless Classics under the record label Firefox Music. The album had great reviews that saw songs like Nguwe Na, Run Away From Love and Don’t Take Your Love Away reaching number 1 on local chart shows. He was also awarded the Best Afro-soul gong for the song, Inde Lendlela, collaboration with Intercessor.
