Destiny of Africa Network steps up preps for World Habitat day

DESTINY of Africa Network (Danet) preparations to host the World Habitat day later this month are at an advanced stage with senior government officials expected to grace the event.

(Danet) will host the belated World Habitat day in Mutare on October 28 in Dangamvura Destiny of Lot 1.

The United Nations designated the first Monday of October of every year as the World Habitat Day.

This publication is reliably informed that several government officials have been invited to grace the event at the one of the most successful housing projects in Manicaland.

Among the invited guests are National housing minister Daniel Garwe and Manicaland provincial Affairs minister Nokhutula Matsikenyere.

The celebrations in Dangamvura come at a time (Danet) through its contractor Flavio and Alma have moved mountains to light up the suburb.

Danet chairman Wilson Masokowere yesterday said preparations to host the day are at an advanced stage.

“We are preparing for the day and we are almost ready to host the day in Dangamvura Destiny of Lot 1 , we have invited several government  officials to attend the event,” he said

 “We are going to celebrate the belated World Habitat Day on October 28 and we are inviting our members to come for the event among other stakeholders,” he said

Director of Flavio and Alma Itai Dirwai said they are hoping to light up a section of houses in Destiny of Lot 1 by the end of this month.

“l am urging people to continue to pay for the electricity. Residents in the Destiny OF Lot 1 have started paying as they have seen the effort that is being put by the contractor although they have started on a slow note

In separate interviews, beneficiaries of the housing project said they were pleased that their days in darkness were coming to an end.

Over 1 650 beneficiaries are benefiting from the housing project led by Wilson Masokowere.

The housing project is run by Masokowere and Temba Sauramba.
