Dancehall chanter ventures into solar business

In an interview with Standard Style, the Zimdancehall chanter said he was gaining knowledge about the solar business before he starts his own business.

Chitungwiza-based dancehall artist Weston “Jah Designer” Dhliwayo has ventured into solar business as he tries to diversify his craft.

Jah Designer is a designer for solar installations and electric services at a local solar company Sunchoice.

In an interview with Standard Style, the Zimdancehall chanter said he was gaining knowledge about the solar business before he starts his own business.

“There is time to release songs and I would need a few weeks to complete the songs,” he said.

“In the meantime, I am working for a solar company and doing designs for them.

“I am learning something from the job and hopefully I will start my own business.”

He bemoaned power shortages, saying they were crippling his studio time..

Jah Designer has enrolled at Harare Polytechnic where he studying electrical engineering.

He is famed for imitating the late musician Soul Jah Love alongside his friend Welly D who also imitates Winky D.
