By Courage Nyaya PREMIERSHIP newboys Cranborne Bullets have promised to give their best as they seek to upset Harare football giants Caps United when they clash at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Caps’ pursuit of the championship looks complicated because of inconsistencies which has seen them suffer two defeats in their last five matches, including a shock 2-1 loss to minions Tenax.
On Sunday, they lost 2-1 to Triangle in Chiredzi, a result which has left them on seventh position on the log standings with 17 points, nine behind leaders Dynamos after 12 rounds of matches.
That dismal run appears to have emboldened Cranborne Bullets, who want to make a statement against the traditional giants of local football.
Coach Nesbert Saruchera, while acknowledging they were facing a giant in domestic football, insisted they stood a good chance.
He said Caps’ status in the league was a big motivation for his young team.
“Caps are one of the giants of local football and they have great players with a lot of quality,” Saruchera said. “We will have to be on our toes up to the end if we are to get a positive result. It’s not going to be easy playing against one of the giants of Zimbabwean football but most of the youngsters are motivated to play against them so we are optimistic of getting a good result.”
Cranborne Bullets has received squad boost ahead of the game with the return of some key players from injury who include skipper Wonder Kapinda and Lincoln Zvasiya.

“We are better now in terms of the players who have recovered from injuries,” he said, adding that only Douglas Mbewe was still to recover.
“We are working very hard to make sure we get three points and it will be a morale booster going into the next games.”
Having started badly, Cranborne Bullets are unbeaten in their last five games which have seen them climb out of the relegation zone.
