SIMBA Bhora’s exceptional season was capped off in style after their captain Walter Musona scooped the 2024 Soccer Star of the Year award at a glittering ceremony held in Harare.
In turn, Tonderai Ndiraya scooped the prestigious Coach of the Year award, for leading Simba Bhora to their maiden title.
Musona was a key driving force as the Ndiraya-coached side were unparalled throughout the season.
The Warriors star, whose 10 goals and 13 assists helped the Shamva-based club to their maiden league championship, shrugged off stiff competition from Highlanders’ Lynoth Chikuhwa and Yadah FC’s Khama Billiat.
Chikuhwa and Billiat came second and third, respectively.
Billiat was exceptional after scoring 13 goals and providing 11 assists in the process.
Simply put, Musona was a cut above the rest as selectors had a hard time to pick standout performers.

Musona’s contribution to the team’s success as well as the national team were enough for him to get the top gong, the second in his career having won the same award in 2022.
Musona was picked from the 11 finalists chosen last month.
The 28-year-old Musona joined Simba Bhora early this year after parting ways with FC Platinum, where he managed to reinvent himself.
It was his second league championship in his exceptional career that has seen him ply his trade in Sweden and South Africa.
Musona succeeded Qadr Amini, who won it in 2023 after leading Ngezi Platinum Stars to league victory.
Meanwhile, Bosso’s Chikuhwa walked away with the Golden Boot award after notching 17 goals throughout the season.
He surpassed last season’s top scorer Takunda Benhura, who scored 13 goals to win the award.
The other winners from the night were Donovan Bernard of Chicken Inn, who got the Goalkeeper of the Year award after garnering 20 clean sheets.
Young Allan Chapinduka of Gweru-based TelOne received the Most Promising Player of the Year.
