ZIMBABWE’S batting woes continued as they were bowled out for 204, losing the third one-day international (ODI) against Pakistan by 99 runs at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo yesterday.
The defeat sealed a 2-1 series loss for the hosts.
This was in response to Pakistan’s 303/6 after the Asian side elected to bat first.
Chevrons captain Craig Ervine illuminated Zimbabwe’s innings with a 63-ball 51, but could not do justice to his innings, exiting the platform when the team needed him most.
Ervine was bowled out by Aamer Jamal.
Brian Bennett provided 37 runs from 27 balls, opener Tadiwanashe Marumani and Sean Williams scored identical 24 runs each, while Clive Madande (20), Richard Ngarava (17) and Sikandar Raza (16) all had stats, but failed to convert their contributions into big scores.
That was the difference between winning the match and losing as Pakistan on the other hand had Kamran Ghulam scoring 103 runs from 99 balls at number three.
The visitors openers Abdullah Shafique scored 50 and 31 runs, respectively, guiding Pakistan to 303 runs in their allotted overs.

If Zimbabwe had taken their chances, exercised caution on the crease, with more than half of the team managing double figures, it would have been a different story.
Zimbabwe started the series on the offensive bagging the first ODI by 80 runs DL method.
Pakistan crawled back into the series with a 10-wicket drubbing of the hosts in the second ODI setting up a pulsating finale.
Action now switches to the three T20I matches beginning on Sunday.
