Moyo guides Zim into Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup qualifier Semis

ROOSEVELT High School's Form 4 student, Chipo Moyo

ROOSEVELT High School's Form 4 student, Chipo Moyo, stole the show as Zimbabwe Under-19 Women secured a thrilling 13-run victory over Tanzania in the T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers at Kigali's Gahanga International Stadium in Rwanda this afternoon.

Moyo starred with the ball and finished with impressive figures of 2 wickets for just 3 runs.

Electing to bat, Zimbabwe struggled to make an impact, scoring 113 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs.

Runyararo Pasipanodya top-scored with 35 runs from 39 balls before being run out, while Passionate Pasipanodya (21) and captain Kelis Ndhlovu (16) weighed in with double digit scores.

Defending a low total, Zimbabwe made early inroads, with Beloved Biza dismissing Saumu Hussein (8) in the seventh over.

Ndhlovu and Melinda Kachingwe combined for Rahima Kibwana's runout in the ninth over.

The turning point came when Moyo was introduced, clean bowling Jenipher Kimaro (47) in the 16th over. Tanzania crumbled under pressure, losing wickets at regular intervals. Moyo claimed her second scalp, bowling Farida Kinyumbi (12) in the 18th over.

Zimbabwe restricted Tanzania to 100/9, securing a semifinal berth where they will play Uganda on Saturday as they look to book their spot in the final.
