The Construction Industry Federation of Zimbabwe (CIFOZ) successfully hosted its annual golf day, which received overwhelming support from sponsors at Royal Harare Golf Club in Harare last week.

CIFOZ is a Non-Profit Construction Contractors Association formed in 1915. It is a pivotal organization in the nation's construction sector and continues to play a crucial role in fostering unity, professionalism, and development within the industry.

The Federation has over 1000 Professional Members and or companies in a diversity of different construction trades.

Among its many initiatives, CIFOZ's annual Golf tournaments have emerged as key events that not only promotes business networking, but also addresses critical issues facing the construction industry.

“The recent CIFOZ golf day held on the 12th of July at Royal Harare Golf Club was a resounding success, marked by seamless organization, enthusiastic participation, and a vibrant atmosphere. From the moment participants registered until the final prize was awarded at the cocktail ceremony, the day was filled with excitement and memorable moments,” CIFOZ said in a statement.

Among the sponsors for the golf day were Makomo Engineering, Croco Motors, Shomet Construction, First Sun Alliance, Sadacnet, Glenrise Investments and Winsten Precast.

“On the course, the competition was fierce, but friendly. Players navigated the manicured greens with varying degrees of success, each hole offering a new challenge and a chance to strategize.

“Marshals  were strategically placed throughout  the  course  to  offer  assistance and  ensure  the  smooth  flow  of  the game.

“Players showcased impressive skills and sportsmanship, with friendly banter and encouragement heard throughout the day. Various fun challenges and contests, such as Longest Drive, Nearest to-the-pin and Most Golf pair added an extra layer of excitement to the event.

“As the sun began to set, players returned to the clubhouse, buzzing with tales of triumphs and near misses. Fruitful interactions and deliberations continued in the cocktail venue as golfers, sponsors and management committee members reminisced about the day's unforgettable moments.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants, sponsors, volunteers, and staff that made this day possible. We can't wait to tee off again next year for another unforgettable golf day. We look forward to future events with the same spirit of enthusiasm and excellence,” they said.

CIFOZ CEO Martin Chingaira, CIFOZ President Eng Ephraim Gwindingwi and the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe Director General Commissioner Rose Mpofu, who was the guest of honour, took the responsibility of handing over the prizes.

Other sponsors who made the event possible include Belmont Electrical, Dulux, Ecolighting, Hardmonds Engineering, Homestyle Bricks, Intercrete, JCB Link, Khayah Cement, Masimba Construction, Solid Stone, Thinkstack and VTU Platinum.

CIFOZ represents a broad spectrum of contractors in Zimbabwe's construction sector including Building Contractors, Civil Engineering Contractors, Electrical Subcontractors, Suppliers and hirers of earthmoving equipment, Associate/Suppliers of Construction Materials and Specialist Services.

The federation’s mission is to promote best practices, advocate for policy improvements, and facilitate networking and knowledge sharing among its members.
