HIGHLANDERS’ coach Kelvin Kaindu has praised his predecessor Baltemar Brito who has made his job easy.
Brito was at Highlanders for one-and-a-half seasons and left at the end of last term after he failed to end the club’s 17-year title drought.
After his biggest win so far on Sunday when Highlanders clobbered Chegutu Pirates 3-0, Kaindu thanked Brito.
“I want to thank the last coach (Brito) that was here. He made my job a bit easier in terms of how the team is defending, his way to coach in the offensive and this is what we have just added on. The fans are there to support the team and we appreciate the way they have been supporting us,” Kaindu said.
In his last stint with the Bulawayo giants in 2012 and 2013, Kaindu twice surrendered the league title to Dynamos on goal difference.
“I remember 2012-13, the seasons that we lost the championship on goal difference, and once again we are tied with FC Platinum we credit to the way we have scored. I think we are almost half of the goals that the team scored last year,” Kaindu said.
Highlanders have scored nine goals and picking up 13 points to sit at the top of the log.
Brighton Ncube notched a brace with the other goal coming from Lynoth Chikuhwa in the 3-0 with over Chegutu Pirates.

Highlanders face defending champions Ngezi Platinum Stars in their next game at Baobab Stadium.
“We are travelling and we still do not want to put a lot of pressure on ourselves. But it is better as we keep picking points. We are travelling to Ngezi. They have not started well, but they are the defending champions and we have so much respect for them. They are the defending champions and you cannot rule them out and any team that is playing Highlanders lifts their game. We hope we just focus on the way we play and not on how they play," Kaindu said.
