MANICA DIAMONDS...(1)1

TELONE FC piled more misery on last season's runners up, Manica Diamonds after humiliating them to a 3-1 at Bata stadium yesterday.

The Wifi boys as TelOne are fondly known dominated proceedings from the onset against a visibly disjointed Manica Diamonds.

Polyester Shoko, Blessing Sibanda and Frackson Bushiri were on target for the Gweru based side, while Fortune Binzi's spectacular goal proved not to be enough for the the Gem Boys.

TelOne began the match on the frontfoot, creating two chances in the first three minutes.

Blessing Sahondo, in particular, appeared to be the menace. The winger, Sahondo hit upright with a curling freekick on the 20th minutes.

But it was Polyester Shoko who thrust the home side ahead after 41 minutes with a thumping header from a corner kick that was delivered by Sahondo.

Fortune Binzi restored parity after 42 minutes, with a brilliant overhead kick that left goalie Matripples Muleya rooted at one spot.

TelOne restored their lead on the 50th minute when through Blessing Sibanda who tapped the ball home from close range, after Manica Diamonds goalie Tedious Baye spilled a rasping shot from Sahondo.

The Wifi boys got their third goal through Frackson Bushiri after the Gem Boys failed to clear their lines following a goal mouth mulee. TelOne gaffer Tendai Chikuni was on cloud nine after recording their win this season.

"This is our second game of the season and the boys did well showing great character. We knew Manica Diamonds were a strong side, we played them during the off season and they beat us but I am really proud of how the boys applied themselves," Chikuni said.

"I am still concerned with our strike force, yes we scored three goals but we still have to be clinical, I am happy though for Sibanda, he got a goal as a striker."

Manica Diamonds assistant coach Tafadzwa Mashiri admitted his men were a disjointed lot.

" We were disjointed. We could have done better than this. It's a very bad start for us. Alot is expected from and this is a sign that we have alot of work to do," he said.
