FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza has bounced back as Warriors’ interim head coach for the upcoming four-nations tournament in Malawi, NewsDay Sport has learnt.
The appointment was announced by the Zifa Normalisation Committee in a statement Tuesday, adding that Mapeza will be assisted by Ngezi Platinum Stars head coach.
The Warriors have been without a coach since the departure of Highlanders gaffer Baltemar Brito last year.
The tournament, to be played in Lilongwe from March 18 to 26, features hosts Malawi, Kenya, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Mapeza is the current head coach of Zimbabwe Premier League side FC Platinum with whom he has won multiple league titles.
He is also a former national team captain and head coach.
Zifa has also announced the appointment of Orlando Pirates reserve team coach Simon Marange as the Zimbabwe Under-20 men’s team head coach.
Marange will be assisted by former Aces Academy head coach, Backlyfield Chivenga.
