FORMER Zimbabwe Warriors talisman and CAPS United legend, Alois Bunjira has lined up a walk for fees, 17km Albun Charity Walk to help gifted but underprivileged students enroll for their Advanced level studies.

The Album Charity Walk is scheduled for Harare central business district to Westgate Mall in the capital on Saturday. Participants are expected to sign up for the walk by paying a $5 registration fee that will go towards the cause.

"We seek to raise to funds for school fees, uniforms and stationery for under-priviledged children and taking them through A level at their nearest schools," Bunjira told The Sports Hub

"Individuals and corporates are also invited to provide additional funds to augment the funds for charity and in kind, through stationery and uniforms.

We are also inviting partners to support through the provision of T-shirts, caps and give away prizes."

Bunjira said many deserving students have often hung up their studies upon completion of their Ordinary Level studies owing to financial constraints.

"A' Level is the most critical phase of education in Zimbabwe. Many children fall away after O' Level but we felt we could help a few to cross that bridge. We will be able to pay for their two years at A' Level and exam fees," added Bunjira.

"After A' Level, there are a lot more opportunities for them. Some could actually get a job and send themselves to university. The lucky ones will get scholarships for University. So we want to help them cross the bridge and place them where opportunities find them."

Bunjira who successful launched the NetOne Honde Valley Marathon last year has encouraged people to support this worthy cause while pursuing fitness goals.

"So far we don't have any corporate partners who has come on board. What we will do is that we will call on the kids who got high number of points at O' Level but are sitting at home and unable to go for A level," he said.

"Those are the ones we are earmarking for this initiative. We will make a call to the public to alert us on those kids sitting at home because of lack of funds. We will vet and choose the more deserving cases. The number will depend on how much we make the from walk.

"We want them to have a hope of getting their families out of the woods. There may be the ones chosen to break the family hardship cycle. The brains that they have got came from God and should serve the purpose. We are there to help with the bridge to cross and get to the other side."
