AMBITIOUS Northern Region Division One side MWOS Football Club has beefed up its technical bench by roping in former Harare City coach Joseph “Shabba” Takaringofa to be the team’s first assistant coach.
He is reuniting with coach Lloyd Mutasa, the two having worked together at Dynamos in 2018 and at GreenFuels recently.MWOS finished the league in fourth place last season and are desperate to win promotion this year.
Other reports suggest that the team is looking to buy Chegutu Pirates' premier league franchise.Takaringofa, who was head coach at division one side Harare City last season where he guided the team to a respectable third position finish, is replacing Wonder Ngoko whose contract was not renewed when it expired at the end of the year.
In a statement yesterday, the club said Takaringofa will bring with him a wealth of experience which aligns well with the team's ambitions.“MWOS FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Joseph Takaringofa as our new first assistant coach. With a wealth of experience and an impressive coaching background, Takaringofa is expected to play a crucial role in the development and success of our team. A highly accredited coach.
“Takaringofa brings with him an extensive list of credentials and licences, making him a valuable addition to our coaching staff.”The former Dynamos player holds the prestigious CAF A licence.
Apart from coaching Harare City and assisting Mutasa at Dynamos, Takaringofa also had stints at Buffaloes in 2015 and Mutare City Rovers where he achieved varying degrees of success.
MWOS said they appointed him because of his ability to motivate players and instill a winning mentality, which was evident particularly during his tenure at Harare City where he worked with a shoestring budget.
“Under his guidance, the (Harare City) team displayed great determination and resilience on the field, showcasing their potential and earning recognition within the football community,” noted MWOS.
