DYNAMOS coach Genesis Mangombe wants to beef up his squad ahead of their participation in the Caf Confederations Cup next year.
Mangombe became the first coach to guide DeMbare to the Chibuku Super Cup title after a 2-0 win over league champions Ngezi Platinum Star at Baobab Stadium on Sunday.
Teenage star Elton Chikona and Ghanaian forward Emmanuel Paga scored the goals for the Glamour Boys.
It was the first time that Dynamos won the country's premier knockout competition which guarantees participation on the African safari.
The 40-year-old DeMbare coach emphasised the need to bolster the squad in preparation for the next season.
“At the moment, we are still celebrating this (Chibuku Super Cup) victory and after this I think we also need to work on recruitment. We will try and add some players in critical positions, add one or two players but we will definitely keep the core of the team,” Mangombe said after his triumph in the cup competition.
Mangombe, who was at Yadah FC before joining DeMbare at the start of the year, took over the reins mid-season after Dynamos sacked head coach Herbert Maruwa following a string of poor results.
After missing out on the league title, eventually finishing in third place, Dynamos were desperate to finish the season with silverware after investing a lot in bringing in new players before the start of the season.

Among the arrivals include Elvis and Kevin Moyo, Arthur Musiiwa, Donald Mudadi, Tanaka Shandirwa, Jayden Bakari, Keith Madera, Nyasha Chintuli, Tendai Matindife, Eli Ilunga, Denver Mukamba, Donald Mudadi and Donald Dzvinyai.
Mudadi and Shandirwa became the club’s new heroes, making it among the league’s best 11 players in the just-ended season while the former was first runner-up to Soccer Star of the Year Qadr Amini.
The club was also celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and the Chibuku Super Cup sure adds some spice to their festivities.
Mangombe also spoke about leading the country’s most decorated football team and how difficult it was for the team to adopt his playing style.
“It’s not easy coaching a team like Dynamos. It’s very difficult, but at times you have to push on and have faith in everything you are doing, especially if you play possession football, you will have a lot of breakdowns along the way,” he said.
“Some people need to understand that a system (of play) does not work out in a day, it needs time and also those repetitions in training. And you can see we can circulate the ball now and we are keeping possession for a bit longer than the first time we tried to introduce this type of play.”
The Chibuku Super Cup triumph ended Dynamos’ nine-year wait for a major domestic trophy since they won the league title in 2014.
