CAPS United carry multidimensional motivation in their blockbuster big Harare derby clash against Dynamos in the Chibuku Super Cup semi-final at the National Sports Stadium tomorrow.
Not that they needed to be reminded, but Dynamos assistant coach Lloyd Chigowe reminded the Green Machine of the two defeats DeMbare inflicted on them in the league this season, and Caps want to erase those memories.
And following the 2-0 and 1-0 defeats, it seems the Green Machine are ready to unleash their rage in a bid to land one on Dynamos.
This is after a difficult season in the league, where they are fighting battles at the lower echelons rather than at the top where Dynamos are, Caps United would want to finish with a flourish.
Finishing the league with a trophy is such big motivation, but before they can even think about redecorating their trophy cabinet, which they have barely opened since winning the league title in 2016, getting one over Dynamos will be the biggest push factor.
They cannot imagine Dynamos making it a hat-trick of wins over them this season alone.
Caps United versus Dynamos is always a grand occasion, but this one is promising to be a real humdinger of a showdown.
There are so many fascinating sub-plots about this one, because if Caps can boot Dynamos out of the cup competition, they know that DeMbare’s chances of getting any silverware would greatly diminish.

Caps can turn a poor season into a successful one with a cup win, while for Dynamos, a season that promised silverware could turn out to be another average one.
Dynamos could make Caps United’s season one to forget if they win tomorrow.
The Green Machine are confident of a change of fortunes this time on.
“It’s always a tight and high-profile match. Both teams will try to prepare well for this one and on our side, we have prepared well,” said assistant coach Tonderai Marume sent on to the Press briefing by his boss Lloyd Chitembwe.
“We played on Sunday. We have had enough time to rest, so we are ready for the big game on Sunday. The feeling is good in our camp because of what we have been doing in the last four weeks. In all the four weeks, we picked points, so the feeling is good and everyone is ready and we are ready to play anyone who comes in front of us.”
He added that the Chibuku Super Cup is their main agenda since there is no other route to medals.
“The league is out of reach and the only thing we can lay on our hands is the Chibuku Super Cup. We we will try our best, we will do everything we can to make sure that we win this one. If we don’t win Chibuku Super Cup, we will have nothing.”
Captain Tonderai Mateyaunga firmly believes that things will be different in the cup competition after they were outplayed by a more youthful Dynamos side in the league.
“We have played Dynamos twice so far this season and we lost both matches, but this is a different ball game altogether. We have done well in the Chibuku Super Cup so far, so we hope that when we play Dynamos on Sunday, we will continue with our good form. The cup is all we can win this season so on Sunday we will try and do it for our supporters and everybody who is associated with the club. We hope to win our match to get to the final.”
Caps United struggled to keep up with the pace of the youthful Dynamos players, but they hope to come up with a plan to combat that.
DeMbare have said that attacking football is their new DNA and they will look to suffocate Caps with their press again.
