Former world boxing champion Charles Manyuchi is set to bow out of the sport with a series of fights starting with an exhibition bout against Limbani Lano of Malawi in Chivhu tonight.
Dubbed the Grand Finale, the non-tittle bout comes after Manyuchi announced his retirement from professional boxing.
Addresding a Press conference in Chivhu, the bout promoter Prosper Chibaya said the Grand Finale will also be taken to other towns around the country.
“We are starting off in Chivhu then spread to other cities and towns. We want to take the fight and the sport to everyone, hence we started here. We are expecting to go to Bulawayo, Mutare, and other areas but eventually we will end in Harare,” she said.
There will be eight bouts on the night, including Manyuchi's. Two of the eight bouts are World Boxing Federation title bouts.
Manyuchi made his professional debut in 2009, and won the ABU welterweight title in 2013.
In 2014, he won the WBC International Welterweight title against Patrick Allotey.
He successfully defended his WBC crown in Lusaka against Devis Caceres. He made another successful defence of the WBC International belt against Gianluca Frezza, in the latter's native Italy.
